The Te Awaite Murder.
ELLIS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN SEEN.
A special telegram to the New Zealand Times from Carterton rtates that the police are now investigating a report that Ellis has been seen in the Te Awnito wild bush country by two station hands. These men are living in a hut a few miles from tlie scene of the murtier, nun the other evening they were awakened by hearing their dogs barking* and the sounds of stones. Neither of the men arose to ascertain what was causing the disturbance, hut next morning' they discerned a figure un a blulT liali a mile away. They looked at it through a telescope, "Mid both men, who know the wanted man, assert that, it was Ellis. Owing to the many false rumours respecting Ellis the police have said nothing about this new information, but they are searching the locality as well as they aro able.
