RESULTS FOR TIIE YEAR 1903-4. HIGHLY SATISFACTORY POSITION, STJBPLT'S OF £774,740, POSITION OF THE PUBLIC WOHKS FUND.

The Colonial Treasurer, Right Hon. R. .). Seildon, furnishes us with the appended figures setting forth the financial position of the colony, giving the receipts and expenditure for 1903 and the position of the Public Works Fund, as submitted for audit. In a memorandum the Colonial Treasurer states "The baiunce from last year was £803,905. The excess of receipts over expenditure was £695,835, making a total of £999,740. During the year and up to March 31 1 had transferred to tho Public Works Fund £225,000, leaving a surplus for the year of £774,740. On March 31 last 1 transferred a further sum of £125,000 to tho Public Works Fund, thus leaving a credit balance in the Consolidated Fund and available for 1904-5 of £649,740. With me you will congratulate lire colony on the satisfactory results achieved. —R. J. SEDDON, Colonial Treasurer."
