In Bankruptcy.

A meeting of creditors in the estate of Henry MehalTey, bankrupt, was held yesterday, in the office of Mr J. S. S. Medley, Deputy Official Assignee, who presided. There were also present Messrs Colley and Ramsey, whose interests were watched by Mr Tolhurst (Messrs Mnlone, HcVeagh, and Anderson), and proxies were held from Messrs Mcßain and Childs, and Teague and Tisch, of Stratford. The Deputy Official Assig'nee read the statements made by bankrupt in private examination, from which it appeared there were no assets. Bankrupt had no banking account, no money, and no prospect of receiving any.

The bankrupt, being sworn, stated It was agreed between Colley and myself that we should buy cattle. I had sixteen cows and a 'bull and I sold them to llr, Jakes for £ll9. Mr Colley was paid £52 ; I kept the rest myself. This occurred about two years ago. I had no money then, but my wife had a lease of 64 acres on the Monmouth Road. Prior to this Mrs MehafTey Hought three sections in Stratford, one or more being in my name. I helped to buy the sections, one for £26, and two for £45, and they were sold for £SO and £l4O. Mrs MehafTey got £l2O for the sale of the farm on the Monmouth Road. I was in partnership with Mr Ramsey in a poultry farm. At the auction sale of the stock I bought with my wife's money a horse and cart and various other articles for £4O. The brooder I got was sold to Mr Stanford for £l2 10s. I sold two incubators for £lO, a haystack for £6, and some turnips for, £ls. Mr Colley moved that the bankrupt submit to a public examination, subject to the costs being provided by the creditors. Seconded by Mr Ramsoy and carried. The meeting adjourned sine die.
