A Steamer Ashore.

(Per Tress Association). 110K1TIKA, April 22. An accident occurred lo the s.s. Toi'ganen lliis afternoon. When just clearing the bar she shipped a heavy sea. which washed a small hawser overboard and this fouled the propeller. This brought the engines to a standstill, and the vessel then drifted about a quarter of a mile to the north of the bar, and although the anchors were dropped the vessel gradually set in towards the beach. At low water she was hard aground. The vessel is uninsured. Hopes are held out llml she may be got oil" tomorrow.
