ADVANCE ON THIBET.
* "N, PROGRESS OF THE MISSION. LONDON 8. The Chinese Aml|an promises to meet and confer with Colonel Younghushund, leader of the British mis- , sion to Thibet, at Gyang-tse. The mission is now at Chalu, but is expected to reach Gyawgj-tse on the 9th instant. At all the villages passed through the inhabitants welcome the mission heartily, and readily sell produce and whatever they can supply. A Chinese general who is proceeding with the mission advises the Thibetans not to* repeat the opposition disputed at Khaji-ghna. MORE THIBETAN TREACHERY. RUMOURS OF RUSSIAN SUPPLY OF ARMS. (Revived. ADrll 8, 10,31 p,m.) LONDON, April 8. Two hundred Thibetans aro holding the village of Sumondu. On the arrival of the mission fifty of the British Mounted Infantry, with three officers, were invited to approach, and when within twenty yards were treacherously tired upon. The .volley, however, took no efluct. The Dalai Lama (or chief ruler) has confiscated the property of the Thibetan general who failed to stop the mission at Guru. Reinforcements have been sent to bar Colonel YounghusljianU's advance on Gyang-tse. It is freely stated that several Jots of old type rifles and ammunition were sent recently to the Dalai Lama, ami also a mitrailleuse field piece (an early type of quickiirer used in the Franco-German war of 1370.1
