SERIOUS INDICTMENT.
THE SLAVE STATE OF Tllli COMMONWEALTH. WESTERN AUSTRALIA, (Received April 8, 1.1 p.jin.) LONDON, April 8. Mr Waller Malcolmson, living in Ireland, in a letter to the Times states that Western Australia is the one slave State of the Commonwealth. Owing to the native indentuie sjstem, he says, the aborigines, in tiie north-west ui'u worse oil' than the negroes in the American slave uajs. lie had rspoatodly seen masters ilog natives, for the most trivial offences, and indentured servants on station* wer» often reduced to eating offal. Mr Malcolmson asserts thnt he offered to furnish the Commonwealth Government and "Parliament with evidence of numbers of acts of cruelty witnessed by 'himself ; but the Kvitlciice was not ilosii'o.l.
