Madras was backed to win £4BOO at 100 to 3, Nirvana £3500 at the same figure., Alias £3OOO at 100 to 2 and £5200 at 100 to 3 and 3J. Playaway and Contest divide the honours as favourite. A disposition was shown to put the field against Haloya, who receded from 7to 1 to io to 1. Prices closed as follows : Five to .1 Contest and Playaway, 10 to 1, Haloya, 100 to 9 Marvel Loch, 100 to 7 Sir Leonard and Cressy, 100 to 5 Regio. RANDWICK TRAINING NOTES. (Per Press Association.) (Received April 1, 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 1. In the final gallops at Randwick the going was heavy, the course proper bving closed. The middlo grass proved an excellent substitute. Gladsome knocked all the season's records. From a flying start with Cornwall in the saddle she run the half-mile in a tick under 50 seconds, and completed the Doncaster distance in lmin 43sec. Lord Cardigan carrying the same rider had previously completed the journey in lmin 4Gsec. Playaway galloped six furlongs in lmin 19aec, and Haloya a mllo lmin 48tjec.
