OPPOSITION LEADER'S OPINION. SYDNEY, March 30. Mr Carruther.s, Leader of the Opposition, in response to a request by the Daily Chronicle to give his opinion of the position of the Stale generally, replied that he believed the State had never approved of the Government policy of high borrowing und lavish expenditure. An era, he says, of better and sounder conditions will result after the ensuing elections, and there will be no more reckless finance. The State will [trove to (he world its capacity to progress, relying on its only resources, and oncouraigdng enterprise by the people. There will not he any pandering by Parliament, to class or labour.
Mil WISE'S REPLY TO THE CHRONICLE. LONDON 7 , March 29. The Daily Chronicle favourably comments on Mr Wise's cable in reference to ret rendu 1 u-m land adds : "llis final paragraph m the most cheering news received fron New South Wales for years.''
