"Gubernatorial Opinions."
A DENIAL FROM LOUD RANFIJRLY.
lib; Excellency the Governor, Lord Jlanfurly. who arrived from north by the llnrnwa yesterday and proceeded south by train, forwarded us tlve following telegrams dealing with nil article published in the Daily News yesterday under the heading "Some Gubernatorial Opinions." These were quoted from a paper published at Opotiki, and, as will be seen, Lord Kanfnrly refutes the statements contained in the article so quoted. The messages sent us at his instance were as follows
"I shall be oliligpd if you wit pub-lis-li his Excellency's denial of the supposed interview with him at Opotiki, and also have same telegraphed to other newspapers throughout the colony by Press Association.
"iteferring to a paragraph entitled 'Some Gubernatorial Opinions,' published iu your issue of \IV-dues-day, March :«l, tin- Governor desires me to inform you thai, iie was not interviewed by a newspaper man at. Opotik'i ; that he has not been in Opotiki 'during the last six years ; tlvat the whole of the paragraph supposed to express his views is entirely manufactured, and without, any foundation whatever.
