Mr E. M. Smith.
MEETS WITH A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. As Mr E. M. Smith, M.U.R., wae on Saturday morning assisting in the work of repairing the break in the Water main at To Hottui he met with a voiy painful accident. WlvUd 'standing undjr the staging whereon his son Mr V. Smith was working, the earthwork collapsed and forced him under tho staging, which also began to settle down; Mr T. Smith was using n ladle of molten lead at the moment, but with great presence of mind kicked this clear, otherwise the metal would have run on to his father. As it was a portion of the lead splash-* ed over Mr K. M. Smith, who was severely burnt about the abdomen. Mr Smith was extricated from under the staging, placed in a vehicle, and removed to his home, where Dr. McOleland attended him. ! On inquiry yesterduy a New rej preventative was informed that Mr I Smith was progressing very well.
