THE CHINESE LABOUR QUESTION. (Received March 6, 9.37 a.m.) LONDON, March f». The Hon. A. Lyttelton has assured the Hon. H, Copeland, AgentGeneral for New South Wales, that the Government viewed the introduction of Chinese labour into the JVansvaal as an experiment which was justifiable under the abnormal state of the of the labour market. He hoped it would be of temporary duration. It was intended to engage ten thousand Chinese as an initial experiment CAPE PARLIAMENT. (Received March 6, 10.4 p.m.) CAPETOWN, March 5. The Redistribution of Seats Bill has been read a first, time in the Gape House. (Received March 7, 0.24 a.m.) ' CAPETOWN, March 6. b The Representation Bill provides rfor three additional seats in the Lef gialative Council and twelve in the £ Assembly, the latter being distribute t ed among the principal towns. I The elections will immediately folt low the promulgation of the Bill.
