CHARGES OF TERRIBLE BRUTALITY. (Received March 6, 10.4 a.m.) f. BERLIN, March 5. !/ The Court at Berlin has acquitted Prince I'rosper von A. Arenberg, who in 1900 was sentenced to death for the murder, under circumstances of V incredible barbarity, of a native chief in German South-West Africa. Subsequently tlie sentence was reduced to live years' imprisonment. The acquittal is granted on the grounds of insanity. Evidence given at the trial just concluded showed that Arenberg had been guilty of abnormal acts of cruelty and in his childhood he took a delight in witnessing pain. The trial caused much excitement, ■» and a considerable section of the public is indignant that the Prince should have been acquitted, believing it to be a result largely due to "Arenberg's rank.
