Wreck of H.M.S. Flora.
It is sought to moke a seagull responsible for the stranding of the cruiser Flora on Dec. 3, in connection witih' which a court-martial is proceeding, wrote a British Columbia correspondent on Dec. 18. Cnptatin Baker and Lieutenant Grant were accused of stranding the Flora. Both the prisoners alliruied that by, reckoning they believed the cruiser was pjast Village Point, near the scene of the mishap. i The look-out was watching for a I>lack 'beacon with a white disc on the opposite side of the channel. Captain Baker first saw an object winch he believed to be this, but it tuxriod put to be the V&lluge l-'oi.ut ' buoy, which was distorted in the log. and .on. which a seagull was sitting, giving the appearance of a white disc. The accused denied neglect, but arhuitted that default must be shown as the result of the error made regarding the beacon which caused the stranding of the warship.
