A Marvellous Exhibition

FITZGERALD'S CIRCUS. A sj>ecial telegram from Marton says that a sensational scene was witnessed in Marton on Thursday afternoon. It was announced by Fit/.geralds that Dr. Gordon, the strong man of their circus company, would act as a human swingle-tree .between a team of houses and ,a live ton load. It was discovered, however, that a load of the necessary weight was not available in the town. Not to disappoint the public, Dr. Gordon agreed to undertake his remarkable exhibition at the head of the large iron cages ol' the show's menagerie. Four stout li-orjJes were obtained and harnessed to t> live cnges, weighing m the aggregate considerable over Jive tons. The American apostle of strength successfully performed his risky feat, acting as an absolutely genuine swingletree between the team and the train of vehicles containing the whole menagerie of the show. After his astounding performance, Dr. Gordon was heartily cheered. He then broke into pieces one of the chains usod in hi« feat. At the conclusion of am instructive address on strength to the big crowd which had assembled, Dr. Gordon was again greeted with cheers.
