'l'he Post Otlice Deyartmcnt will in a short while surely increase its revenue by more than the expenditure involved in this new departure. The New Year's l>ay picnic at Okato was th'i'nlm'd by the previous day's lx>avy rain and the uncertainty of weather in tliis morning. The attendance was nevertheless cheering to the promoters, and will further lettuce the small debt on the Methodist Church there. The friends hud been most generous in provision for lunnheon and tea, and a cricket match between an Okato team and the New Plymouth visitors was an nddvJ attraction.
