Tataraimaka.
(Our Own Correspondent.) A very pleasing little ceremony took place at the of the school on Friday, Dec. 17, showing the esteem in which Miss Cross, the teacher, is held by both parents and children. At the instigation of Mrs Pen warden, the children started a subscription among themselves, which amount was supplemented by their parents, and a very nice hand-bag was purchased. Thip' was presented to Miss Cross on behalf of the scholars by the Misses Violet Gyde and Adelaide Simpson, wishing her a pleasant holiday and a sale return. Miss Cross, who was very pleased at this proof of reg'ai'd from her pupils, suitably acknowledged the gift, after which all adjourned to Mrs J. Penwarden's, who had provided afternoon tea, which was thoroughly enjoyed.
