If the covers are not sufficiently open, the articles, if addressed to places within New Zealand; are taxed the d«ficiency at letter rates of postage, and forwarded to destination ; but if addressed to places beyond the colony they are detained and sect to the Dead Letter Ofllce, Wellington, CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS.
