A TROUBLESOME CREW. * PERTH, Dec. 7. Captain Boulter, of the steamer Kohniderbiix, 1.1 charged with murdering a Coloured boatswain. The evidence showed that the coloured crew was disobedient, and that lie shot the boatswain in self defence, not intending to kill him. For nine days and nights he was sleepless, fearing the crew would kill Him, but he kept them in subjection at the point of his revolver. He brouirht the schooner to port in a dismantled condition'. A verdict of justifiable 'homicide was returned.
FATAL PALL OF STONE. PERTH, Dec. 7. A fall of stone and boulders at Perseverence killed two milers named Adams and Sullivan., Three others narrowly escaped. AX OPAL!SET) DOGFISH. A perfect specime; of an opaliscd ■dogfish has been ur ~-thed at WhitecHits, at a depth yf feet. j t measures 42 inchc long- by 18 i n circumference in ~• thickest part. Veins of purple o 1 encircle the end, also the mouth and eye sockets! Portions of opan.ed fish -have previously been found, but this is the first perfect specimen. It is easily recognised as a species of the prehistoric dogfish. The specimen lias 'been purchased for forwarding to London. Received 7, 10.15 p.m. SYDNEY', Pec 7. Miss Golding, hon. sec. to the Women's Progressive Association, has been awarded £SO damages against the newspaper Watchman for libel published i(n its correspondence; column, alleging that certain obscene literature, in the shape of a detective's report, was read at a meeting of the association.
