Mountain House.

A meeting of the North Egmont Forest Reserves Committee was held on Friday evening, when there were present : Messrs W. H. Skininer (Chairman), F. Carrington, A. Morton, and J. W. Shaw. Mr Shaw reported that he bad visited the Mountain House on Thursday, and found it ready for opening. The tracks were all in good order. It was decided to open the house for tourists' use at once, Mr G. Duncan 1 , last season's assistant, ■bemg appointed caretaker. Arrangements have been made with Mr Phipps for a continuation of tho pi'geon post inaugurated last year. An added feature is that the service will be a daily one Between New Plymouth and the mountain, several birds having been reared at the latter place,
