An Important Land Case.
(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 37. The case of Garrick v. Copeland, arising out of the sale of the Hestleton Estate, was concluded to-day Mr Harper concluded the evidence for the defence early in the afternoon. Mr Skinner submitted there was no case calling for rebutting evidence, as the fraud was not proved by defendant, and no evidence was aiduced of conspiracy between Garrick and Matson. Judge Denniston said that if the case was More a jury he could not direct that plaintiff was entitled to a noin-suit on defendant's affirmative evidence, 'but it was optional for plaintiff to close the case and rely on legal points. Mr Skerrett asked for time to consider and the case was adjourned till tomorrow.
