PREPARING FOR CONTINGENCIES. Received 27, 0.14 a.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 26. A minister of a Christian church applied for the use of the Town Hall for a meeting proposed to be held by J: A; Cowie in February. The ftbwh- Clerk stated' 'thai recent New York cables were unfavourable tC Dowie, and suggested that he would insist on a cash deposit of £IOO to cover possible damage to property if the Dowie reception were hostile. The minister declared the New York cables were a bunch of lies concocted 'by Bowie's enemies, and produced the Zion journals as proof. He agreed to the Clerk's suggestion re deposit, and also to reserve the right to cancel the letting should trouble ensue earlier than the meeting.
