Tourist Traffic In Taranaki
The meeting of t'he united committees from the Borough Council, Chamber ol Commerce, and Scenery Preservation Society was held last evening in the Municipal Chambers. Present : Messrs Tisch, Carter, Dockrill, Burgess, Collis, S. PercySmith, Fraser, Bewley, Govett, and J. C. George. Apologies were received for the absence of His Worship the Mayor, and Messrs McDiarmid and W. L. Newman.
Mr Tisch was voted to the chair, Correspondence was read—
From Mr George H. Stubbs, proprietor oi the Mangapapa-Mokau colliery, to the effect that there had been very little inducement to dater for tourists; he could not run a steamer to time-table from either Waitara or the breakwater ; that he would be agreeable to place a steam launch at the disposal of passengers on the river if running' expenses were guaranteed ; that there was a boandinghouse at the mine From Mr A. W.
