School Commissioners.
f The School Commissioners met on * Friday. Present-Messrs Allsworth, Wade, Faull, and McKenzie, the Chairman (Mr R. Cock) being un- - avoidably absent. ' Mr H. M. Skeet's offer to exchange certain sections was further considered, and on the motion of Messrs Allsworth and Fault It wai ■ '■ resolved that it is desirable In the interests of the Board that the ext changes proposed by Mr Skeet be B made and that the Board's solicitor v be instructed (in conjunction with ' ! Mr McKenzie) to take the necessary steps to effect the proposed exchange, but at the cost of Mr Skeet. Mr Hutchen, on behalf of Mr O. , E. Hoby, wrote declining tho Board's terms for the taking of clay for . brickmaking purposes. It was resolved, on the motion of , Messiu Wade and that Mr • . Hoby bo notified that negotiation* . for permission to remove clay from the land leased by him ore ut an end, and that no clay or soil what- ■ ever must be removed or interfered i with ; and that the secretary he authorised to ascertain the presenti*i sition of the property to effectually prevent any removal of the ; clay or soil in future. Letters were received from Mrs K. ■ Gray and Mr C. Carter, also from Mr C. Carter separately, on the subject of closing Fillis Street and other streets intersecting their leaseholds. On tho motion of Mr Allsworth seconded by Mr Faull, ihe applications were referred to the Board's ' solicitor for his report. The chief surveyor wrote ro the proposed deviation of tho Mntaim- ' oana Road through section 4, Block 12, Opaku Street. Mr Wade moved and Mr Allsworth seconded that the proposed deviation be agreed to, provided the severed portion of the land (21 perches or thereabouts) be also taken and a new certificate of title issued to ' the Commissioners. Mr C. M. Govett acknowledged tho Board's letter of sympathy. Formal resolutions were passed re Mr R. E. Mcßac's surrender and the purchase of the Lincoln Road fcliool site. The Treasurer reported a bank balance of £845 9s 2d. Consent to transfer a lease from J. Cresswell to Isaac Hartley, of sections 6 and 7 of 189, Hawera dis. tnct, was granted. Mrs K. Gray was granted an extension of time to June 30 next to lulfll building conditions on her leasehold on the understanding that no further concession can be iiuide. ■ The action of the chairman was ' confirmed in authorising consents to the following transfers :—William Tompsitt to E. J. Baker, of section 3, block VIII., Waitara S.l), ) J. V. Wyborn to R. Exley, of section 10, block 11., Hawera ; and in consenting to several mortgagee, Leave of absence, on account of urgent public business, was granted to the chairman.
