Maddison, the well-known Christchureh architect, has just passed her examination as a duly qualified chemist. One of Miss Muddisou's sisters has qualified as a doctor.

Mr George Moir is expected to return shortly to Eltham from a trip to England and Scotland, od at* rangements are being made to welcome him.

Mr James Embling, late of the Bank of New Zealand, proposes learing England on the return Journey to the colony this month. Mr T. Brodrick, formerly of Hawera, but now practicing as a* architect in Invercargill, is visiting Hawera.

Mr James Kowin has left Hawera for London.
