A COMPLAINT.
(To the Editor). Sir,—l have l>een struck ofien wltfc the width of our pavements In Dov« on Street, and yet they appear to be far too narrow in front of some places of business. For instance, I find ladies have sometimes to walk right over tlio road to the other side or take to the street to avoid passing through a crowd of men) smoking and spitting in little ktiotS of three Bird four, and sometimes tine or other with a book in his hand ki though he may be taking orders of something else: Only this day I was told by a lady that she held it difficulty in avoiding a drunken Maori. Are there ho borough laws to prevent such a block on (he chief, thoroughfare pf the town, or arjj there no police to say to such "mbye on." 1 have often been obliged to take to the stroet myself, and I fail to see why I should aot have a right to the paveincnt as well as other people.—Yours, etc., CITIZEK. f
