High School Board.
The Board of Govomors of the New Plymouth High School met oil Friday evening at the Secretary's office. Present : Messrs N. K. Macdiarmid (chairman), E. Dockrell, E. J. Wilson, Percy Smith, ami E. G. Allsworth. The minutes of the last ordinary and special meeting were read and confirmed. Apologies wero received lor the absence oi Messrs Berry and Roy. Mr O. Samuel, the Board's solicitor, wrote forwarding the full text of his Honor Judge Edward's decision in the cas«t> 1). J. Hughes and E. Newing v. the Board. I The matter having been dealt with at the special meeting, no further action was taken. The Education Board wrote in reply to the High School Board's request- recommending two pupils for free places In the High School. The Education Department wroto regarding subjects taken by certain pupils. The Secretary (Mr Bewley) said the information had been supplied. Mr Percy Smith reported regarding the improvements to the School Grounds, and recommending the purchase of a new lawn mower, and further improvements. After some discussion, as Mr Smith had not spent all the money voted at the previous meeting, the matter was left in his hands, with power to act.
Tenders for outbuildings ami sanitary work were dealt with in committee, and were referred to the Health Department. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded 'by Mr Smith, it was unanimously resolved that the Board desires to place on record its appreciation of the life and work of live late Veneralbe Archdeacon Henry Govett, and tenders its sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
Several matters of routine having been dealt with, accounts were passed for payment, and the Board ad-' journed.
