The Wreck of the Northern Monach

HAWEBA, Nov. 9. The latest report is that the Northern Monarch is still upright, apparently jammed between two reel's. The barque is broken amidships', and will probably part under heavy seas. The crew saved only the things in which they stood. An attempt to reach the wreck to save otter clothing Tailed, the wind driving the boat eight miles from the wreck. Captain Nixon's personal loss is estimated at £2OO. The vessel was worth £5500, and had 173u tons of coal aboard. The insurances are not known here. The captain's (laughter displayed great bravery, and set a line example to the men. The crew are still at Opunake.
