IMPORTANT TO LOO&L BODIES. PUB PBBSS ASSOOUMOX. Wellihotos, October 27. The Appeal Court gave judgment to-dcy in the oaee of the Mayor of Lower Hutt Borough and the Mayor of Wellington. Ia accordance with the Public Works Act, theOity was assessed for a portion of the oost of a new, bridge but objected to pay on the grouud that it was not adjassnt, as there are local bodies inteivening, tba bridge being nine miles away. The majority of the Court—Justices Dennistoo, Edwards, and Cooper—were of opinion that the City is adjacent within r.he meaning of the Act, while the Uhief Justice and Justioa Williams dissented on the ground that adjacent m<?ans contiguous. Notice of appeal to the Privy Council was given.
