HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The Board met on Monday, Present ; Messrs Tisch (chairman), McDonald, Andrews, Pigott, Brown, Liardet Gray, Hine, Alexander, and Mackay. The resignation of L. E. Autridge, late wardsman, was accepted. Dr. Walker wrote recommending that an artificial leg ha procured for Leonard, the native. The Chairman reported that subscriptions were bsing raised for the recrmmendatipn. The Auckland Board wr .te with suggestions for alterations in the Public Health Act Amendment Bill. It was decided to co-operate as regards proposed alterations to clause 5,. but not as to clauses 12 and 13. Dr. Leatham reported that 37 cases were admitted last month, 42 discharged, 22 remaining, and that 3 patients had died. Watts wrote in terms of the highest praisG"t>f the management of the hospital and the attention find skill if the medicil and nursing staff. Hn s'ated that afrer having, on three occasions, been treated at the hospital, and with a knowledge of the working of hospitals in various parts of the globe, he could unhesitatingly declare that the general management of the New Plymouth Hospital compared most favourably with any he had seen, and that the surgical and medical staff could not be surpassed. .He owed a deep debt of gratitude to the whole staff, to whom he tendered his sincere th«nks, j The discussion on Mr Liardet's motion to provide a Cottage Hospital ] at Stratford was resumed.
