Received 17, 0.36 a.m. Sydney, October 16. Sailed, 2 p m., Star of Australia for Auckland. A cyclone at Mainland and Merriwa unroofed bouses and did great damage to property and crops. Sparrows are causing so much I damage in the Richmond district that arrangements are being made for united action to destroy them. Received 17, 0 58 a.m. Melbourne, October 16. There has been another daring I roberry, £2OOO worth of leather being stolen from Russell Brothers' tannery.
