THE IRRECONCILABLE BOER.
Will the Boer go to war again ?" is a question one often bears, and is answered in various ways. A letter recently receiveJ from a lady ssbool teacher in South Africa gives us soma idea of the feeling of hatred among the
youngsters that has been instilled so hard into their hearts that it will" di 9 hard," The lady writer says:—"On Sunday I went to the Dntch Church. There were about 30 babies to be c christened, and something like 50 bancs to be read. However, all this was nothiag compared to the sermon. It j lasted one hour and ten minutes, and was from bcgicmng to end a tirade j against the English and thur ways. 5 Some of it was rack sedition, all in ( high Dutch ; I understood it fairly well, and the rest I get from the girls that bud been at church. They wore all ire- , mctidously exeitsd about it, and w'ceti 11 c-a'd ' But wh::t is tho good of prcaol ing like tin* V cm dri said, ' Wat- oh. it just, gives us hope !' Another cbilil 12 years old, said, " Ye=, one day we get it batfe, soon comes another big fight, and this time we win.' I said I supposed they would try agaio in about seven years, but she replied, • No; that i* too soon—not Eeven, but seventeen,' showing that sho had evidently ber own ideas on the matter I assured her England would never allow hersilf to be defeated again, and their efforts . would be in vain, and she said something to herself in Datcb. On my asking | what it was sho said, 1 1 say my heart cannot believe it.' She is a dear little phild, and we get on well together, but she is just the determined, thoughtful, „ j clever kind of girl that I would rather J were J&ngKsb.''
