AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB.

A pubmo meeting was held at the Town Hall on Thursday for the purpose of considering the advisability of forming a Swimming Olub. There Man a fair attendance and Mr H. M. B&uchope presided.' The Chairman briefly explained the object of the meeting, and on the motion of Mr Treeby it was decided to form a Olub to be called the New Plymouth Amateur Swimming Olub, and to affiliate with the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association.

The following were elected : President, His Worship the Mayor; captain, Mr L. Allen; rice captain, Mr W. J. Treeby; committee, Messrs Hadfield, Murton, Garter, H. Bennett, F. Moore, P. B. Ross. Mr H. M, Bauchope was appointed secretary and treasurer.

It was decided that the piub's colours should be dark bJjje, and that ihe subscription should be 2s §i for adult active members and Is 6d for juniors, honorary members ss, Rules are to be framed by the committee and jspbmitteed to a general meeting of members. A number of gentlemen w#ra nominated as vicß-presidents, Yotes thanks to the Press and the chair brought the procaedinga to a close.

It is proposed to hold 3> water carnival at the opening of the new baths on Reserve E. intending members should give in their names to the secretary as soon as possible.
