The County Council meets to-day. At the adjourned annual meeting of the New Plymouth Co operative Society on Saturday, it was, we understand, decided to continue operations for anothei year, and to let the Devon-street shop. Messrs Connett and Ward were elected directors, and Mr Hopson, who has retired from the directorship, was appointed an Auditor.

Common jurors will note that they are discharged from attendance at the Supreme Court. We understand the Bar entertain Mr Jastice Ed wards at dinner on Mondiy evening. The fiinction will be atrictiy private, but should be a very gratifying compliment to the learned Judge on this, his first visit to New Plymouth. We feel sure the other learned professions, the Press, and the public generally, though absent in body, will join the legal profesfion in offering the best of good wishes to their distinguished guest.
His Honor Mi Justice Edwards showed nia ability to get through business on Saturday, when he put f iur divorce cases through in an hour and a half. In three cases decrae3 nisi were granted, and in one an order for the restitution of congugal rights was made. This is about a record, and almost emulates Amerioan despatch in divorce proceedings.
In view of the fact that the late Arch deacon Govett was appointed by the Imperial authorities chaplain to the Imperial troops serving during the war in Tara naki, it has been suggested that he should receive a military funeral. Many old veteran's with whom he saw service would be pleased to have this opportunity of officially honouring his memory, while tho young soldiers of to day always williDgly hononr the, small band of veterans who are so rapidly passing away. Way, wife of the custodian at the Central Fire Station, met with a serious accident on Saturday morning The living rooms are on the first floor of the building, and at present some additions are being made. Vlra Way unfortunately fell through the joists of the new work, and was precipitated to the ground, a dlatanca of 16 feet. Under the advice of Drs Walker and Bennett the sufferer was removed te the hospital, it being feared the injuries are serious, but their exact nature can 1 not be determined for a dav or two.
