When she was twelve yews of age Marie, as the result; of a fright, wae stricken dumb, and from that day, ii spite of the efforts of numerous sprcial is's and all gorts of pretended remedies, she was unable to utter a word, Lately, however, to the gieat astonishment of her fellow servants assembled at the m;d-day meal, Marie articulated clearly the wordH, " I can speak. Give mo some bread."
The subject of this wonderful cure alleged that a few days before thiN event a heavenly messenger appeared to hnr and said, " In the name of God I annouuee to you that on such a day and a' such an hour you will recover your speech," and at the appinted moment she spoke as she had not done for nearly thirty years. Since this strange happening the village has been visited by never ceas ing crowds of pilgrims, bent on seeing the woman upoD whom tbe miracle has boen parformed, and Mirie's tongue, which has been so long silent, is kept, going relating her extraordinary ex perience. /
