Thb annual meeting of the above club was held at the To\ Hall on Thursday evening, Mc > James Paul, the President being in th> > chair. The President's at Qual report referred to the Club's li nancial position, and it was pointed out that there were labilities to be met to 1 the extent of about £SO, so it was in 'pad members would pay ,up their subscriptions promptly. Mention wat 1 made of the principal events of the pis 6 season, and the names of the prizi n inners were recorded, and the doners of prizes thanked. The green was t 'tated to be now in good order, and it i Tas hoped, weather permitting, to open the season nex l ; Thursday. The servic as of the caretaker, Mr Autridge, were referred to in terms of praise, and the > 'lub congratulated in having such an «■ fficient and zealous caretaker. Thekd. its were thanked most heartily for pri oviding afternoon teas. Feeling referee ca was made to tha loss to the cl'ib tt irough the death of th« late Mr 1?< £>• Webster. Given fine weather, a most anjoyable season might ba antiafp ited. A suggestion had been made to it vite the Auckland Olub to pay a visit to New Plymouth, and the matter ' was worthy of consideration. The Secretary read the balanci >* sheet, which showed overdraft of ova. r 18s, the expenses being £320 7d, including;.£9o 12s 6d on buildings. In reply to Mr Qovett, the Secretary said the liability on debentures was £290. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr Paul was re-elected president, and, in acknowln;Jgiog the compliment, be referred to the probable visit of an English team to New Zealand. Messrs Govett and Fcaser were elected vice-presidents. Messrs H.i Goldwater, Cock, A. D. Gray, Morrison, Burgess, Jenkinsoo, and Watkins were elected to the committee. Mr Hall was elected secretary and treasurer, and Mr Ahier auditor. The following new members were elected : —Messrs Kerr, Ewing, Monteith, R. Oolson, Dr. Laidlaw. The Chairman proposed an honorarium of £lO 10a to the secretary, but Mr Hill declined to receive the amount, as tlu Oiub's fiaances were not in position *o justify the grant. After some discussion, in which Mr Hall was urged ito alter his views, the matter was left in the hands of the Committee, I A bonus of £5 was voted to the caretaker. , Mr Govett urged tnat a copy of the bye-laws should be furnished to each member; also that the Olub should be registered under the Unclassified Societies Act.—Left to the Committee. On the motion of Mr Fraser, a vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers.
Votes of thanks were also passed to the ladiea for supervising the afcdraosc teas; to the Press for their valuable assistance in publishing reports of matches; and to the Town Band. The President donated j£2 2s for prizes. The meeting adjourned.
