DISAPPEARANCE OF PIHAMA POSTMASTER.
rSK PEEBB ASSOCIATION. I) WANGiNOi, September 16. The police received word to-day from 1 Opunake to the effect that Harry Wags aff, postmaster and storekeeper at Fihama, near Opunake, lift home last Friday with the avowed intention of proceeding to New Plymouth for medioil treatment. On Saturday a letter wa3 posted in Wellington at 4.30 addressed to the constable at Opunake, stating that bis body would be found in Wellington harbour, and requesting ] the constable to break the news to WagstafFs brother. Inquiries are being made in Wellington as to whether the misting man has been seen there. Wellington, September lt>. The police here have made inquiry with regard to the missing man Wagstaff to-day, and are disposed to look upon the probabilities of suicide as doubtful. [The Hawera Star states that a telegram received from Wellington during the afternoon reported the body was found in the harbour, but this is at variance with the Press AFSOciation message sent to us at 9.28 p.m.]
