THE ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION.
PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION, Wellington, September 14. The Premier recently communicated with the Imperial Government expressing surprise at the change of port of departure from Lyttelton to Hobsrt, of the Antarctic Relief expedition, The reply, givon through the AgentGeneral, ia thatHobart lies 1200 miles nearer than Lyttelton to England, and whereas Lyttelton is only 150 miles nparer than Hobart to the Discovery, over 1000 miles are thus saved by the change, meaning a week in point of time, and time is of the utmost importance.
