SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The Commissioners met on Friday. ! Present: Messrs R. Cock (chairman), Faull, Wade, Mackenzie and Allawortli, | The Sccresary reported that Captain | Gibson hod paid £2 as royalty on bricks removed, and that in consequence of this settlement the transfer of his lease to Mrs Hoby had been consented to by the Chairman. On the solicitor reporting all papers, etc., in order, a surrender of section 107, block 2, from F. 0. Brooking will be accepted, and twa new leases will be issued, one to Mr G. Jones and the other (o Mr Brooking. Mr 0. E. Hoby and Mr Hutchen, his solicitor, waited on the Board in I support of an application to be allowed 'to carry on a brick works on sections ' 142 and 143, Hua district, now held I under lease by Mrs E. Hoby. After a long discussion the Board decided that on the solicitor reporting all papers, etc., in order on or before November Id , the Board will join with Mrs Hoby, the lessee, in granting to Mr 0. E, Hoby for 15 years from Ist September, 1903, the right to uee clay on part of sections 142 and 143, Hua, and to manufacture bricks thereon, and remove bricks therefrom, and to- erect such buildings and kilns as may be necessary'for such purposes, provided th&t no clay be removed from the land until made into bricks, and that he agrees to pay to the Board Is for every 1000 bricks manufactured on the land, whether of clay obtained from the land or elsewhere, and provided that re-entry under the original lease shall determine Mr Hoby's rights under the proposed grant. The Board's solicitor reported that Messrs Merchant and James had made the following award as between the board and Messrs A. and W, Brown in respect to section 1, block- 23, Huiroalmprovements, £560; rental for 21 years from January Ist, 1905, £63 per annum. The Board decided to facilitate the proposed deviation of the Moki-road through part of section 10, block 3, Upper Waitara, under lease to Mr W. Courtney, and that the Chairman and Mr Mackenzie be empowered to take the necessary action for that purpose. The Treasurer reported a balance of £1271 18s 2d. The Board authorised the payment of £Boo t for primary education and £159 for secondary education. The Board decided that Mr Bundle be informed that the Board will consider an application for leave to underlet to Mr Swan, but not one for leave to transfer the lease to him (part sec--25, Hua and Waiwakaiho.) Two mortgages were approved. Accounts amounting to £4l Is ii were passed for payment.
