This match was played at Maaterton on Saturday, and resulted in a vistory for Taranaki by 13 to 9, la the first spell Taranaki had decidedly the bast of the game, securing two tries, one of which Glasgow converted. In the latter half the local team put up 9 points, while Taranaki only added 5, another try converted by Glasgow, who, with Mynott and Hunter, did all the scoring for their aide. OTAGO. ?EB PBBSS ASSOCIATION, Dukedin, August 22. The first of the matches between Southland and Otago was played to-day and resulted m a win for Southland by 9 to 8, converted try and pjtted goal to a goal and try. Otago had the best of the first spell, but: did not take advantage of all the opportunities to soore. In the second half the Southland forwards outclassed the local men. HAWKE'S BiY. V. CANTERBURY. Chmstohukoh, August 22. The Hawke's Bay v. Canterbury match resulted somewhat nnexeofedly in a win for Hawku's B.*y bv 13 to 9. Mr Arndt, who had charge of the Taranaki team on tour, returned on Friday night. He reports thit the team has been splendidly treated at every place visited. Mr 0, Young will act as manager for the balance of the journey The Pirate third fifteen leave Wanganui for New Plymouth by next Wednesday's mail train, phying Tukapa on Thursday and Stratford on Saturday. Tbe team travels under the mangement of Mr Din Ro3S.
