TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

The Board met on Thursday. Preseut: The Commissioner of Grown Lands (in the chair), Mesßrs Heslop, Rattenbury and Connett. The Commissioner's action in accepting A. J. Courtney's application for section 48, Spotswood, was confirmed. Land applied for since last meeting was:-Section 8, blcck XI, Uppsr Waitara, 615 acres, G. Jensen o.r.p; section 14, block 14, Ngatimaru, 84 acres, P. 0, Skitrop, 1.c.p.; section 24, block 14, Aria, 727 acres, Smyth end Oastanelli, 1.i.p.; section 1, b!ook 7, Caps, 163 acres, M. Kelly, o.r.p. The following transfers were applied for:—W, Knox to 0. Musker, Jr., sections 18, 16, 21, block 2, Upper Waitara ; H. E. Wilmburs<; to H. 0. Wilmhurst, half interest in sections 26 and 80, block 15, Ngatimaru ; W. McOluggagetoE. B. Robertson, section 9, block 6, Pouatu; J. Buckley to B. Oodd, section 1, block XI, Egmont aDd a sublease; B. Ccdd to F. and E. T. Gyde; J. Hurley to M. O'Sullivan, half interest in section 3, block XI, Opaku ; J. Wallace to T. Nash, section 8, blcck 13, and section 5, block 14, Mahoe; F. J. Hayward to A. and A. T. Hayward, one-third eacb, sections 1 and 2, block 7, Omona; W. H. Nairn to 0. J. Belcher, seotion 35, block XI, Ngaire; 0. E. Raby to A. R. Davis, section 1, block 7, Mimi. The applications of Wallace. Raby, McOluggege, Hayward and Nairn were approved. The application of the Publio Trustee in the estate of John O'Reilly to transfer to E. Carroll wag left with the Commissioner with power to act if the papers are in order. The applications of Wilmhurst, Buckley and Oodd were withdrawn by Mr Spence. Ihe application of Knox was postponed for further inquiries. J. Hurley's proposal could not be carried out until the resumption of the land was gazetted. Leave to sub-let was given as follows;—W. E. Russ to A. Nelsop, section 6, block 4, Ngatimaru; 0. W, Oullen to W. Baghurst and Thomas, section 9, block XI, Ngatimaru, subjeot to residence; 0. Ritter to W. J. Kowe, seotion 24, block 12, Ngaire; J. Crofskey to J. Moore, section 18. block 16, Egmont (subject to improvements.) Several applications to mortgage were dealt with. James Muir'a application for the freehold was granted, H. Dense applied for additional land opposite section 4, block 11, Ohura.— The application was approved and the price fixed. The balance of valuation for improvements on forfeited section 3, block 4, Ngatimaru, is to be paid to E. R. Lever, An extersion of six months was granted to T. Neah for improvements on sections 5 and 6, blcck 13, Mahoe, and to K. McL'Dowie on section 1, block 9, Kapara (the Oimmiseioner dissenting.) It was decided to dispense with personal residence on section 41, block XI, Waitara, during the pleasure of the Board, so long as J. B. Mabin resides on his present farm at Onaero. The Under-Secretary for Crown Lands notified that the law did not allow the payment cf £5 each to members of the Beard for out of pocket expenses while inspecting land at Uhura. It was decided to re quest that legislation be obtained in order to make a more adequate provision for members 1 expenses. Iho Commissioner did not vote. The proposals of the Waiwakaiho Road Board lor expenditure of .£3B 8s 4d and Waimate Road Board .£54 4s 9d accrued thirds were approved. The interests of the following holders in the NihoNiho I.F. Settlement were declared forfeit :—W. A. Drummocd, section 5, btock 15, Aria; S. J. Boyie, section 5, block 3, Ohura; G. Wadman, section 11, block 2, Ohura; and T. Bell, section 10, block 2, Ohura. Forfeited sec'ions 7 and 8, block 5, Kapara, and section 4, block 8, Opaku, are to be re-offered for selection. The Ranger's amended valuation of the portion of section 10, blcck 4, Mimi, to be offered for sale or selection was approved. W. Van Asch was granted a lease for 12 months of seotion 21, block 6, Kapara. After hearing A. G. Firbank the Board decided to forfeit sections 10 and 13, block 9, Mimi, held by G. and A. G. Firbank, and that pending a further disposal of the latid A. G. Firbank be allowed to graze his stock thereon. Several cases of selectors in arreai were dealt with, one holding being forfeited. It was decided that failing Mr Muir's acceptance of the terms for purchasing section 264, Patea, before the time allowed, the land be put up for sale without delay. After bearing Mr Malone on behalf of W. Harris, tenant of section 87, block 4, Spotswood Settlement, it was decided that the Board had no power to grant a refund of the deposit, and that the application to withdraw from the lease be left to the Commissioners to deal with. The Commissioner was authorised to deal with F. W. Green's application to transfer section 14, block 7, Cape, to Walter Stoddart. Section 1, block 1, Kapara, is to be declared forfeited and to be re-offered for sale or selection weighted with improvements. The Board rose at 3.40 p.m.
