0 I The first examination in practical plumbing in connection with tbe classes' 'itld Wder tha Board of Education, at' Smart Bro?.' thopa in Stratford and i New Plymouth, will be htldinNew! Plymouth on Thursday, September! 10 h next, Some 25 to 30 Candida' es: are expected to go up for examination. : The following candidates hava already entered from Stratfoid, viz : Senior —W. Paul, A. K. Smart, H. de Launay, S. Ketny, R. Ritti-r. Junior —P. Wallac, W. Burgess, R, Pine, and J. Maslin. The examination of the plumbing clashes in connection with the Wellington Technical School took p'aee last week, and there were 14 candidates for practice and 17 for theory, a total of 31. Of the 39 seven passed in theory, viz., James W. Frederic, Stratford ; F. 0. Griffiths, New Plymouth; Ernest Luke, Wellington, (good); Herbert •Smart, New Plymouth, (good); G.| Birch, A. Wordsworth and G. Tinnty, j Wellington, In pracica only three' passed, viz,, Herbert Kmart, Nuw Ply-! mouth; T. D. Johoson and F. J, Bal-i iiog-r, Wellington. Out of the 10 j candidates who passfd, Mr Herbert Smart, cf New Piymoutb, was the only candidate who paswd in both practice and theory. As Mr Smart was prepared for the eliminations by his orolher at the New Plymouth c'aaa of which he is instiuetor, his passing so creditably i» quite a feather in the cap of the Elucation Board's classes. We tad the pltasuro yesterday cf seeing Mr Smart's certificate, which is a very hmdsomo one, and heartily 1 congratulate him and his instructor, Mr G. Smart, on his success. It wiil we sesn that the local class ia theory, starts on Monday evening.
