A sanguinary encounter has taken place between Mahommedan Greeks and Ku'zowallach bands. Received 14,11.7 pm. Lohdon, August 14. Mr Balfout's speech made a good impression at Constantinople and other capitals. Bulgaria watches the insurrection j with interest, but with no expectation of its success. 1 Lord Lanadowne, replying to Lord j Spencer, made a reassuring statement based on Sir Nicholas O'Connor's despatches, declaring the Porte's intention to repress and punish military excesses. Sofia, August 14. The Bulgarian palice arrested Tzontchtff and Jaokoff near the frontier in order to prevent them joining the revolutionists.
