The Canadian revenue cutter Petre) discovered the American fishing tug Silver Spray on the Canadian side of Lake Erie. The Silver Spray refusing to stop, the Petrel fired twenty shots, riddling the rigging and wounding two of the crew. Tha Silver Spray eventually rf ached the American shore and the Pe'rel stopped outside the three-mile limit.
