FIRES.
FEB PRESS ASSOOIATIOH. Wellington, August 13. A fire occurred at Rome & Hurrella' Oo.'s coach buil ling works early this morning, aod considerable damage was done, but the brigide checked it from developing into a serious conflagration. Tho fi-e broke out in the stock room, and was cot-fined to it. Mr Hurrll thinks the damage amounts to nearly £IOOO.
Insurances: Building, £IOOO in Sou'h British; machinery, £SOO in South British ; stock, £2225 in South British, £750 in Naional, £SOO in Alliance, and £375 in Northern. Nelson, August 13, A fire occurred at Mr Bert Taeker's draper's shop, Hardy-street-', last evening. Drinige was done to the stock jto the extent of £7OO over the insurances. It is rot known how it originated, being a half-holiday. Insurances: New Zealand, Royal, and United £SOO each. The building was not much damaged, I; is owned by Mr W. A. Roughton. A heavy southerly gale with rain was prevailing. j
