ACCIDENT AT A RAILWAY GROSSING.
About noon on Tueslay, as Mr G. W, Henderson;, local manager for the D esden Piano Co., was driving with 4r Pratt, tf Bell Block, in a gig, the par'y met with an accident at the H*nwoadro'.d crossing. I-. appears that Mr Hrndersoo k pt agcol lockout, but reither saw any sneke nnr h<ard ai.y eound cf an app-earning train, bjt at this place it is d.ffi.ult to ascertain the proximity of a train. However, as the horse and trap reached the cr ssiDg the engine of the mid-day i»oods train appeared cut of the cutting and almoit immediately struck the horse and killed it, smashed the trap, <ent the occupants flying:, but fortunately ihey alighted clear of danger and no'; much th) worse for their na-row rsc--pe from tha j ivvs of death l'r e ho rp, a valuable animal, and g'g belonged to Mr M. Jooes.
