ALLEGED MURDEROUS ASSAULT.

What appears to be a case of attempted murder was reported to the police last night by AUxinder Hogg, a municipal fire brigademm. His story was tint while walking down Lower Ouba-street, shortly after 8 p.m., he was accosted by a woman with whom he got in'o conversation. A few minutes later a man appeared an? demanded to know what Hogg mea/it by beiDg with his wlfa. The man than struck Hogg in the face, knocking him dawn, and while the la'ter was on the ground fired at him with a revolver, the bullet entering the left leg. The man and womi.n then made cff. Hogg wa3 removed to the hospital. He sayhe docs not know either the man or woman,
