VOLUNTEER NEWS.
MOUJITED RIFLES TOURNAMENT
Gites a fine day the military sports, held by the Stratford and Egm:nt Mounted Rifles, should be a great SUCC.B9. The following is the programme with times indicated for the various events to be held on the racecouise:—
11.30 a.m.—Beat turnout, man and horcu.
12 noon,—Half-section Leading Competition. 1 p.m.—Wrestling on horseback, 1.30 p.m.—Lloyd-Lindsay Competition.
2 p.m.—Despatch Carrying Competition over hurdles. About 1| miles, 2.30 p.m.—Gun Capture. 3 p.m.—Victoria Cross Competition, about 5 furlongs.
3.30 p.m. -Relumed Trooper's best turnout,
4 p.m.—Pace Oomps'itior-, walk, trot, and gallop. 4.30 p.m.—Life Saving Competition, about 7 furlongs. Captain Liardet, Captain Knight, the Secretary (Trooper Gnffen), with the Committee of Manag ment, have ltfc no stone unturmd to make the sports a success, and we hop* to see them well patronised as they are both I novel and interesting.
