PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, July 17. Constable John JohostoD, court orderly at the Magistrate's Court, shot himse'f at 830 this morning. He fired two shoes in the region of his heart. He is said to have been depressed of late, and was a severe sufferer from indigestion, Johnston was a well-kr.own footballer ic Auckland and Wellington a few yeirs ago, and was generally p pular. Some years back he was specially promoted for courage disp'ayed in arresting a sailor who hid fhot a nun and wha was s ill armed with a revolver. Lateb. At the inq'iest the evidence showed that deceased had nsver given the leas': sign that he intended t > take his life. A verdict of suicide while temporarily deranged was returned, the jury expressing sympathy wi h deceased s relatives, who live in Awklwd.
