BRITISH OFFICERS IN COLONIAL SERVICE.
PER PBEBB ASBOOIATIOS. ..-, Beceivel 16,0 47 a.m. London, July 15. Lord Stanley, Financial Secretary to the War Office, replying to a question, said he was aware of two instances There officers would h»ve been deprived of half pay or pension if they entered the Australian service. The regulation was based on the ground that the colonies were better served by officers on the active list, and it would be unfair if retired officers were employed in the colony, and treated more favourably than those employed by the Imperial Government.
