Uonnott) to move:— That with a view to a more equitable representation of the ratepayers on the Board, a committee be set up to rearrange the boundaries of the different wards, Mr Richard Price to move: Tbat the Government Be asked for authority to extend the breakwater in accordance with the. plans of Messrs Marchant and O. Napier Bell, members of the Institute of Civil Engineers. Mr Newton King to move: (1) That tbe necessary steps be taken by the Board to have a Bill brought before the House of Representatives, giving power to borrow, subject to the , ratepayers consent, as per tbe committee's report. (2) That the Engineer be instrusted to prepare plans for a shed to be erected at or near the root of the breakwater, to be used as a transhipment shed. Mr Maxwell to move: That, seeing no information has been placed before the Board as to the probable amonnt cf trade for ccean boats to warrant the Board in going in for lerge expenditure with a view of providing accommodation for such, a committee be appointed to report to the Board at its next meeting as to the best means of establishing a service by which ocean boats anchored off the port can be tendered.
